Pollution and Solution by Mannat Malhotra

Pollution is a world-wide problem. Today this problem has become very complicated. Humans have interfered  way too much with nature. As a result the ecosystem of all species has got disturbed. Water, Air and noise pollution is also affecting the health of all ages of people. Youngsters taking medicated puffs to normalise breathing allergies has become a common scenario.

Recently I attended a session at my school wherein we were given orientation to different kind of pollution. Three major types of pollution are:

Air Pollution:  Air pollution is caused by the smoke which comes out of the chimneys of mills , workshops , factories etc . The diesel smoke which comes from buses ,cars , tractors , and bikes etc . This type of pollution has made our lives very difficult in metropolitan cities like Delhi. The AQI level in Delhi goes more than 400.It is causing diseases like asthma, T.B , cancer etc

In order to curb this kind of pollution measures like shifting of factories from residential area, use of electric & C.N.G. vehicles, discouraging diesel vehicles, making peripheral highways to avoid unnecessary entry of vehicles in cities have been taken by the government. The green cover in city also needs to be increased by planting more trees.

Water Pollution: In India we treat rivers as mother, but unfortunately that does not reflect in actions when we cause water pollution. Draining of Like the waste materials of  industries and oil refineries water bodies which is a common phenomenon. The society in which I live is situated on banks of sahibi river. But unfortunately due to water pollution this river has turned in to a drain. The next generation really needs to take this water pollution seriously. It is well known that earth has only three percent as drinking water. If we keep on polluting these rivers and keep on converting them into drains, the water crisis is not far away. We all need to remember that Jal hi Jeewan hai (Water is life).

Noise Pollution: This pollution not irks and pricks you when on roadside. The honking, engine noises and other construction cacophony is common phenomenon. Noise pollution is also dangerous to life. It causes deafness and other mental health diseases. It eats your concentration. In cities like Delhi the roaring of honking vehicles is unbearable. Their engines and horns create way too much sounds which makes our ears bleed. Loudspeakers, D.J, sounds create noise pollution to its extreme level which is harmful for the physical and mental health of the people.

We all need to educate our self about noise pollution by avoiding unnecessary honking and regularly servicing vehicle and machinery.

We should plant more trees and stop deforestation. We should use environment friendly products and should avoid single use plastic or plastic items. We must use the RRR formula which is Reuse, Reduce and Recycle are the best measures to stop pollution. We should nudge our parents to use the electric vehicles and avoid the use of diesel vehicles. We should all make an endeavor to use public transport instead of using the private vehicles for day to day commuting.

A humble initiative in this direction by all of us will it to a robust sustainable ecosystem to be enjoyed by the generations to come.
