WHY VIDEO GAMES CAN BE MORE THAN JUST ENTERTAINMENT by Mannat Malhotra

Image
I am yet to meet a parent who talks positive about video games. The moment discussions start the words like epilepsy, eye sight loss, wastage of time and online frauds etc starts echoing around. I met a family who bought a PS5 for their child not out of love, but because they can monitor and observe what kind of games he is playing. It’s not the playing which is troublesome, but it was the secretive playing and the grey areas in online gaming which were troubling that family. And why not! Recently I read in news that a child committed suicide on losing contact with a gaming friend.  But is it really true that there is no flip side to this gloomy picture. Playing video games is not really about entertainment; when played responsibly, it can help develop useful skills and teach valuable lessons. Many games like ROBLOX and Minecraft require players to think quickly, make their own decisions, and solve problems. Games like MINECRAFT help improve creativity by requiring playe...

Dussehra

Image

Monsoon: Nature's Most Beautiful Season

In elementary education i recited a poem  “Rain Rain go away, come again another day, the little arthur wants toplay” .  I still don’t understand why the rain has to go away. The children can play in rain and enjoy rain drops on their face, evaporating all anxieties.   Take some time and watch the drops of rain touch the dry earth. The thirst of earth get quenched. A wonderful fragrance fills the air. The sky has no fix color and grey becomes its favorite. Cool breezes begin to blow and just before rain everything takes a pause. Everything just come back to life. This is the magic and beauty of the monsoon, a season which brings freshness and joy to one's mind and rejuvenates life. In Northern India Monsoon starts around June and continues till September. “Saawan” is the festival and many followers pray Lord Shiva and bring water from holy river Ganga. Farmers are dependent upon this weather as in major parts irrigation still relies on Monsoon. Water bodie...
