Monsoon: Nature's Most Beautiful Season

In elementary education i recited a poem “Rain Rain go away, come again another day, the little arthur wants toplay”I still don’t understand why the rain has to go away. The children can play in rain and enjoy rain drops on their face, evaporating all anxieties.

Take some time and watch the drops of rain touch the dry earth. The thirst of earth get quenched. A wonderful fragrance fills the air. The sky has no fix color and grey becomes its favorite. Cool breezes begin to blow and just before rain everything takes a pause. Everything just come back to life. This is the magic and beauty of the monsoon, a season which brings freshness and joy to one's mind and rejuvenates life.

In Northern India Monsoon starts around June and continues till September. “Saawan” is the festival and many followers pray Lord Shiva and bring water from holy river Ganga. Farmers are dependent upon this weather as in major parts irrigation still relies on Monsoon. Water bodies such as rivers, lakes and reservoirs gets replenished which help in providing water for farming ,drinking and in generation of electricity .

For adorable little children monsoon is full of adventures. I still remember jumping and splashing water in muddy puddles like Peppa pig. I learnt making paper boats and seeing them float in water was like owning a shipping company. Sipping on hot chocolates or tea while sitting with your family and watching the rain through the windows is a memory one always cherish. “Pakora’ in Indian families adds the spice to Monsoon season.

During this time period schools often opt for hybrid classes and organize indoor activities to prevent students from falling ill and in helping them to avoid getting stuck in traffic. I like hybrid classes initially when they are declared, but after two-three days I start missing my school. What a irony of life!

Though the climate and ambiance are scenic in monsoon, but the challenges are equally testing. Monsoon brings challenges like floods especially in easter and north eastern India. In cities waterlogging, traffic jams become a routine. Crops may also get damaged due to heavy rains. High humidity levels bring possibility of contagious disease. Stagnant water can cause breeding of mosquitoes which can lead to diseases like dengue and malaria. Though if proper steps like silting are taken in advance by municipal corporations, the problem of water logging can be avoided and this will ease the traffic.

The climate change has impacted Monsson season. These days various environmental factors have made monsoon patterns less predictable. Some regions majorly the southern part of INDIA face heavy rainfalls, while other regions face drought like conditions. Which is basically a sign from nature to understand the importance of protecting forests, conserving water, and reducing pollution to make a healthy and a safe environment.

The amazing season of monsoon teaches us that nature has the power to renew and refresh life on earth. It nourishes our planet and fills our heart with happiness. It reminds us to acknowledge that every drop of water is blessing of life falling from heavens. Happy Monsoon !
